Digital Citizenship

At The Cathedral School, we recognize that the digital world is an integral component of our students' academic, social, and everyday life. We are committed to teaching digital citizenship, equipping our students with the tools to navigate the digital world safely, responsibly, and respectfully. Through engaging in school-wide challenges and adopting a step-up approach, we guide our students to manage technology responsibly in the effort to become articulate, confident, and responsible digital citizens who are prepared to interact positively in the connected world.

Digital Citizenship Week

Digital Citizenship Week occurs every year on the third week of October. Cathedral students participate annually in this event, engaging in various activities that shows them how to use technology safely, responsibly, and effectively. As students continue to grow up in a digital world, they need on-going guidance on how to navigate the internet in a way that protects their identity and helps them make good choices.

Hour of Code

In recognition of Computer Science in Education Week, Cathedral students take on the Hour of Code annual challenge during the second week of December. Age-appropriate activities are designed for all students from Kindergarten to Grade 8 to investigate coding concepts. To encourage participation, raffle winners are picked from each division.

5th Grade Tech Bootcamp

When entering the Upper School in 5th grade, students participate in a comprehensive Technology Bootcamp. In addition to receiving school email addresses for the first time, they engage in meaningful discussions about cybersecurity and online safety, learning how to identify suspicious emails and digital ads. These experiences not only prepare students for academic success but also emphasize the importance of staying safe in the digital world.
