Mathematics

The Upper School mathematics program ensures that students gain a solid knowledge of fundamental math skills by encouraging them to understand the logic behind concepts. Heterogeneously-grouped classes motivate and challenge students of various learning styles; in order to foster critical thinking, students are asked to apply what they learn to real-life experiences through hands-on activities and project-based assignments. While algebraic concepts are introduced generally in earlier grades, the seventh and eighth grade math curriculum is a formal study of algebra, enabling students to choose higher-level courses when they enter high school. The rigor of our math program leaves students well-prepared for higher-level, abstract thought as they continue their academic careers.
