POSOC/ACT Cathedral Community Movie Night

On Friday night, students in Lower School and ACT–the education and outreach arm of The Cathedral Church of St. John the Divine–came together in celebration of ACT’s 50th Anniversary, The Cathedral School’s 120th Anniversary, and LatinX/Hispanic Heritage Month for an outdoor screening of Coco. The perfect weather was paired with delicious churros, chorizo, tacos, and horchata provided by Erubiel’s Taco Truck. Following the film, students engaged in a lively discussion led by our Upper School volunteers who guided a Q&A exploring some of the movie’s themes about family heritage, loss, identity, and connection.

This memorable night was originally conceived by Head of School Erica Corbin, and ACT’s Marie Del Tejo. We are grateful to POSOC Co-Chairs Janine Tiago, Rosangely Frick, and Sondra WuDunn for organizing and bringing this event to life. We are also grateful to Rooftop Films–who chose to partner with us because they identified with and supported POSOC, Cathedral, and ACT’s shared mission to celebrate equity and inclusivity. We are also grateful for all the many volunteers, who helped in any number of ways leading up to, during, and after the event. We hope the night will be a wonderful memory for our Lower School attendees and our Upper School volunteers alike. You can view photos from the movie night in the album in the right hand column.
