Thanksgiving Evensong

Last Tuesday, the Cathedral community gathered for our annual Thanksgiving Evensong in the Cathedral of St. John the Divine. Students, faculty, and staff had the opportunity to express gratitude through music, art, and prayer during the proceedings. Ismail Y-F ‘31 began the Evensong with an opening prayer; there was a reading from the Book of Joel by Upper School students; and Lower Schoolers shared Thanksgiving Prayers taken from the Haudenosaunee Thanksgiving Address. The event was also highlighted by a singing of Thank You, Mother Earth by the 2nd grade under the direction of Ms. Mannarino, a performance from the Choristers, and an art offering called the Acts of Kindness Quilt by the 1st grade with help from Ms. Valentine. It was a great way for the community to come together before a well-deserved Thanksgiving break. View photos from the evensong in the right-hand column.
