A Well-rounded Celebration of School, Community, and World.

Last week, The Cathedral School enjoyed a well-rounded celebration of school, community, and world.

Faculty and Staff Appreciation Week
Using National Teacher Appreciation Day on May 4 as a launching point, Cathedral students, parents, and administrators decided to dedicate the entirety of last week to celebrating our fine faculty and staff. The week kicked off on Monday with a special video message from the President of the Board of Trustees and the entire Senior Administrative Team. The appreciation continued throughout the week with surprises each day, such as a gift certificate for the Hungarian Pastry Shop from the PA’s Know Gratitude Committee, a beautiful 500 piece puzzle depicting the seven Core Values, a day filled with hand-written tributes from families, and a series of special video messages from students archived here and posted on our social media channels. Special thanks to our Parents Association, students, and their families for making the week so special.

Grandparents and Special Visitors Day
An already wonderful week of celebrating school expanded to a celebration of community and world as we welcomed Grandparents and Special Visitors to a virtual event featuring musical performances and demonstrations of learning. Watch the recording of Grandparents and Special Visitors Day here. At the close of the event, Grandparents and Special Visitors were invited to watch the Earth Day Evensong.

Earth Day Evensong
Earth Day Evensong is a testament to the Cathedral Community’s long-held passion for environmental sustainability. Students and families tuned in to the pre-recorded event which featured special messages from Emmy N-M ‘21 and Lillie C. ‘21, President and Vice President of Cathedral’s 5-8 Grade student environmental club “PEACOCK” (People's Environmental Action Club of Cathedral Kids). The Evensong also featured Lower School plant-and-animal-inspired artwork, percussion ensembles, 3rd Graders on Orff instruments, a performance by the Cathedral Choristers and Cathedral Choir, and a special message from Cathedral alumna Hava Chishti ‘15. Chishti is currently a sophomore majoring in environmental analysis at Pitzer College. “By the time I graduated from Cathedral, it was pretty clear to me that I wanted to spend the rest of my life helping the environment,” she told attendees. “Cathedral has done a really great job teaching students about the planet!” Watch Earth Day Evensong here.
