Physical Education
Lower School physical education classes focus on building motor skills, confidence, and cooperation. Communicating effectively, accepting individual differences, problem-solving, and working within the framework of rules are the focus of all units. Through activities such as cooperative games, children encounter experiences that encourage them to learn how to work with other students to achieve a common goal. Students learn to use movement for creative expression through dance and gymnastics activities. Competitive games and the rules of common sports are gradually introduced in the third and fourth grades. These experiences allow students to develop a functional understanding of movement concepts and provide opportunities for children to build confidence in their ability to perform a variety of motor skills.
