APIDA Heritage Month Assembly
On Friday afternoon, Cathedral’s APIDA Affinity Group led an Upper School Assembly in celebration of Asian, Pacific Islander, Desi American Heritage Month which was in May. The APIDA Affinity Group at Cathedral has grown t0 30 members this year with 26 students and four adults. This assembly was a wonderful way to celebrate that group and APIDA Heritage Month.
“In the assembly, we focused on the importance of APIDA Heritage Month, important Asian American Leaders, and our diverse cultures,” explained Ms. Goco.
The second half of the assembly featured a cultural fashion show, highlighting outfits from different regions and cultures, including Southeast Asia, South Asia, and East Asia. Students had the opportunity to dress in outfits of their choice and walk down the runway in front of those in attendance. The assembly concluded with a dance from Ryan S. ‘24 that was choreographed by Hyunjin from the K-pop group Stray Kids. It was an exciting way to celebrate Korean culture and music and its influence and conclude an amazing assembly. Thank you to Ms. Goco, Ms. Chyau, Ms. Jannat, and Ms. Solis for all their work in making such a special event possible.
