Upper School Student Council Elections
The 2023-24 student council election season began at the start of the year. Students who were interested in running gave a declaration of their intention to run after the school year’s first interest meeting. This year, there were 22 candidates running for 15 positions and there was a large representation from the 5th grade who were eager to become a part of Upper School life.
Students worked on their speeches, prepared campaign posters, and spoke to the Upper School community to promote their runs. On Tuesday, September 26, during US Assembly, the candidates for President, Vice President, and Treasurers read their speeches. The following day the students gathered again to hear from the Public Relations and Secretary candidates. Students then had the opportunity to vote via Google Form and election results were announced through the Upper School Google Classroom.
While not every student who runs can win their election, all of the participants did an incredible job in their preparations for the election process. There were several important deadlines to meet, a speech writing lab, and they dedicated their time to their push for becoming a member of the Student Council. We are very proud of the effort the students gave in becoming this year's student leaders in the Upper School. View photos from some of the speeches in the right-hand column.
