Math Gets Creative: 7th & 8th Grade Projects
Our 7th and 8th graders have been finding creative new ways to bring math to life! In their “Can You Figure Me Out?” presentations, 7th graders crafted fun and interesting facts about themselves and their families connected to a quantity, then transformed those facts into mathematical expressions for their classmates to solve. From family facts to personal favorites, students challenged their peers with some of their toughest, and most fun, math problems while sharing a little more about who they are.
Meanwhile, our 8th graders brought math to life in an entirely different way, designing their own stained glass art using linear equations, reflections, and shapes on the coordinate plane! Using their understanding of symmetry and graphing, students transformed mathematical equations into unique works of art, from beautiful patterns to favorite animals and characters.
We are so proud of both grades for their creativity, hard work, and enthusiasm for sharing their stories and artistry through mathematics!
