Cathedral Community Celebrates at Absalom Jones Benefit

Thank you to everyone who attended this year’s Absalom Jones Benefit at Hill Country Barbecue last Thursday night. It’s always a special night for the community to come together to eat, drink, dance, and support a great cause. This year’s event raised over $200,000 in support of Financial Aid at The Cathedral School!

This year’s program began with a spirited rendition of Oh What a Day by our very own Ms. Mannarino, followed by a brief welcome from Head of School Erica Corbin. This led into the remarks from the two featured speakers, Daphne Rubin-Vega ‘99, an alum and member of the Board of Trustees, and Mary Bacon, a Cathedral School parent. Each spoke to the strength of Cathedral’s community and the importance of investing in this special place. “As a K-8 school we have an opportunity to welcome parents as partners in the students' education,” said Rubin-Vega. “Even as a child, I always felt ‘We’re all going to get out of this what we put into it,’ and the parents really did put a lot into it.” It was a wonderful reminder of the difference this community makes in the lives of past, current, and future Cathedral students and families.

Their words led us into Call From The Heart before the evening ended with plenty of music, dancing, and fun amongst friends. Once again, thank you to everyone who made the night such a success, including the Benefit Co-Chairs, Brigham Keehner, Courtney McGraw, Cynthia Pai, and Marguerite Sheehan. We hope to see everyone back next year!
