Hoops From The Heart

The Cathedral School’s 11th Annual Hoops From The Heart will take place on Saturday, May 11, 2024 from 12:00 PM to 4:00 PM on the Upper Playground during Spring Fair! All are invited to participate in this student-driven fundraiser, supporting the Absalom Jones Benefit for Financial Aid. Since its creation in 2014, this fantastic event has raised over $200,000 for financial aid at The Cathedral School—a true testament to our community’s commitment to mission, at every level!

What is Hoops From The Heart?

With the clock ticking and excitement building, Hoops From The Heart has all the energy of a hard-fought basketball game, as shooters strive to make as many free throws as possible before the buzzer sounds. Not into basketball? No problem! Additional options are available for students to Jump Rope or Hula Hoop From The Heart as well. Grab a friend and come join the fun—this year at Spring Fair!

How does it work?

Before the event, families and student participants are asked to solicit pledges and donations for their efforts. Sponsors may pledge a per-basket or per-minute contribution or make a flat, one-time donation for Financial Aid. At Hoops, each participant will then have 12 minutes to shoot baskets, hula hoop, or jump rope, thus raising money from their sponsors and supporters.

Completed forms can either be turned into the Reception Desk before the event, or hand-delivered at the check-in table when you arrive for Hoops. All participants who turn in a completed donation form will be entered in a raffle for fun and fabulous prizes—stay tuned for more information!

Parents, please also consider signing-up to help scorekeep or rebound—many hands make light work!
