Openings in grades 1 through 7 are dependent on attrition. A limited number of students with completed applications will be invited for a half-day visit, based upon the enrollment needs of the particular grade level and the records provided. We recommend that current school records and standardized testing results be submitted as early as possible in the admissions process.
Once you have submitted your application, you will receive further information on the following next steps:
Step 1: Fall Open Houses - REGISTRATION WILL BE AVAILABLE THROUGH OUR WEBSITE ON SEPTEMBER 5, 2023
We are excited to invite you to visit our campus on one of the two dates below to hear from Head of School Erica Corbin, Administrators, Faculty, and Students about The Cathedral School program. Step 2: Testing
Applicants to the 1st grade are not required to take a standardized test, but will be assessed by members of The Cathedral School Admissions Team.
Testing is optional for applicants to Grades 2-4. While not required, we will review the results of the Independent School Entrance Exam Primary Level (ISEE-P) as supplemental material. This assessment is administered by the Educational Records Bureau (ERB). Visit
www.erblearn.org or call ERB at 212-672-9800 to learn more and to register. Scores must be received directly from ERB.
Testing is optional for applicants to Grade 5-7. While not required, we will review the results of the Independent School Entrance Exam (ISEE) as supplemental material. This assessment is administered by the Educational Records Bureau (ERB). Visit
www.erblearn.org or call ERB at 212-672-9800 to learn more and to register. Scores must be received directly from ERB.
Step 3: Transcript Release Form and ISAAGNY Confidential School Reports
By signing our application form, you are granting The Cathedral School permission to contact your child’s current school. Applicants to Grades 1 through 7 must submit the Transcript Release Form to their current school, which asks the school to send reports and records directly to The Cathedral School.
Applicants for 1st grade should ask your current school director to complete and submit the ISAAGNY Kindergarten and 1st Grade Confidential School Report to The Cathedral School at
csadmissions@cathedralnyc.org. The form is due no later than Thursday, January 11, 2024.
Applicants for grades 2-7 should ask your child's current classroom teacher to submit the Confidential Grade 2-7 General Evaluation Form to The Cathedral School. You are welcome to ask more than one teacher to fill out the form. The form is due no later than Thursday, January 11, 2024.
It is the family’s responsibility to make sure we receive the necessary materials from the current school by the designated due date.
Step 4: Parent/Guardian Tour
All parents and guardians who have submitted an application will have the opportunity for a campus tour, providing an in-depth look at our classrooms, programs, and facilities.
Step 5: Student Visit and Parent/Guardian Interview
Openings in Grades 1 through 7 are dependent on attrition. A limited number of students with completed applications will be invited for a visit and further assessment on campus, based upon enrollment needs of the particular grade level and on the records provided. We recommend that current school records and standardized testing results be submitted as early as possible in the admission process.
Student visits will be scheduled beginning in December. Visits will include classroom activities and skills assessments.
Parents/Guardians will meet with an admission representative to have a conversation about your child and your family and ask any questions you may have about our school.
