  • Submit Your Application

    Applications for the 2024-2025 school year will be available on August 21, 2023.

    The application fee for all grades is $100 and is non-refundable. If you are applying for financial aid, the application fee is $40 for each applicant. You should indicate that you intend to apply for financial aid when you complete the application. (The fee reduction is automatically applied.) The application deadline is Thursday, December 1, 2023. The financial aid application deadline is Thursday, December 15, 2023.
  • Applying to Kindergarten

    Please note that Kindergarten applicants must be 5 years old by September 1, 2024.

    Once you have submitted your application, you will receive further information on the following next steps:

    Step 1: Child Visit and Parent/Guardian Tour

    Child visits take place in person in small groups and last approximately one hour. At the same time, parents and guardians will have a campus tour, providing an in-depth look at our classrooms, programs and facilities.

    Please schedule the Child Visit and Parent/Guardian Tour prior to the Parent/Guardian Interview to ensure that we have had the opportunity to get to know your child in advance of our conversation. 

    Step 2: Parent/Guardian Interview

    During this in person 30-minute appointment at The Cathedral School, you will meet with an admission representative to have a conversation about your child and your family and ask any questions you may have about our school.

    Step 3:  Fall Open House

    We are excited to invite you to visit our campus on one of the two dates below to hear from Head of School Erica Corbin, Administrators, Faculty, and Students about The Cathedral School program. (Please note that attendance is optional but recommended, and it is not necessary to submit an application before attending an Open House.)

    The dates of our Fall Open Houses are:
    Tuesday, October 17, 2023 6:00 - 7:30 p.m. 
    Thursday, November 9, 2023 6:00 - 7:30 p.m. 

    Step 4: Transcript Release Form and ISAAGNY Kindergarten and 1st Grade Confidential School Report

    By signing our application form, you are granting The Cathedral School permission to contact your child’s current school. Applicants to Kindergarten and 1st grade must submit the Transcript Release Form to their current school, which asks the school to send reports and records directly to The Cathedral School.

    Please ask your current school director to complete and submit the ISAAGNY Kindergarten and 1st Grade Confidential School Report to The Cathedral School at csadmissions@cathedralnyc.org. The form is due no later than Thursday, January 11, 2024.

     
  • Applying to Grades 1-7

    Openings in grades 1 through 7 are dependent on attrition. A limited number of students with completed applications will be invited for a half-day visit, based upon the enrollment needs of the particular grade level and the records provided. We recommend that current school records and standardized testing results be submitted as early as possible in the admissions process.

    Once you have submitted your application, you will receive further information on the following next steps:

This assessment is administered by the Educational Records Bureau (ERB). Visit www.erblearn.org or call ERB at 212-672-9800 to learn more and to register. Scores must be received directly from ERB.

    Applicants for grades 2-7 should ask your child's current classroom teacher to submit the Confidential Grade 2-7 General Evaluation Form to The Cathedral School. You are welcome to ask more than one teacher to fill out the form. The form is due no later than Thursday, January 11, 2024.

    It is the family’s responsibility to make sure we receive the necessary materials from the current school by the designated due date.

    Step 4: Parent/Guardian Tour

    All parents and guardians who have submitted an application will have the opportunity for a campus tour, providing an in-depth look at our classrooms, programs, and facilities.
     
    Step 5: Student Visit and Parent/Guardian Interview

    Openings in Grades 1 through 7 are dependent on attrition. A limited number of students with completed applications will be invited for a visit and further assessment on campus, based upon enrollment needs of the particular grade level and on the records provided. We recommend that current school records and standardized testing results be submitted as early as possible in the admission process.

    Student visits will be scheduled beginning in December. Visits will include classroom activities and skills assessments.

    Parents/Guardians will meet with an admission representative to have a conversation about your child and your family and ask any questions you may have about our school.


  • Applying for Financial Aid

    Step 1: Indicate your intention to apply for financial aid on the admission application

    Submit the application for admission and, when prompted, indicate that you intend to apply for financial aid.  
     
    Step 2: Complete the online Tuition Aid Data Services (TADS) application

    The financial aid application is processed through TADS. The TADS application will be available on or after October 2, 2023. Complete the financial aid application online by clicking here.
     
    Step 3: Collect and submit requested documents to TADS

    In general, you will need the following:
    ·       Federal Income Tax Return
    ·       W-2 and 1099 Forms
    ·       Year-end Business Statements (if applicable)
    ·       Any other required documents requested by TADS

  • Notification and Reply Dates

    For applications and files completed by Thursday, January 11, 2024, The Cathedral School follows the notification and reply dates established by ISAAGNY for its member schools.

    Kindergarten

    Kindergarten notifications will be emailed on Thursday, February 8, 2024.
     
    The reply deadline is not later than noon on Thursday, February 15, 2024.
     
    Grades 1-8

    Grades 1-8 notifications will be emailed on Tuesday, February 13, 2024.
     
    The reply deadline is not later than noon on Monday, March 4, 2024.
     
    Early Notification for Kindergarten

    Notification letters for siblings, legacies, and children of faculty/staff with complete applications and who opt for early notification will be mailed not before Friday, December 8, 2023.
     
    The reply deadline is not later than noon on Friday, December 15, 2023.
  • Sibling, Legacy and Faculty/Staff Application Policy

    As an ISAAGNY school, The Cathedral School participates in the Early Notification option for sibling, legacy and children of Faculty/Staff candidates. We believe that our families help make our community strong. The most important criteria for admission is that the applicant will be well-served by our mission and program. These candidates are evaluated according to the same criteria as all other applicants and must follow all of the same procedures.

    In order to be considered for early notification, all application materials and the Early Notification Form must be received by early December, in accordance with the ISAAGNY notification and reply dates.
