The Cathedral School provides alternate transportation service through the Office of Pupil Transportation (OPT), including School Bus.
While you are automatically re-enrolled for bus service if you were enrolled at the end of the previous school year, both returning and incoming families should confirm eligibility on the OPT website. Transportation eligibility is determined on the basis of the student’s grade level and the distance between the student’s residence and school. Transportation eligibility requirements are determined and subject to change by OPT. All students who are not eligible for bus service will receive a full-fare OMNY Card. If you are a returning family, and your eligibility status has not changed, and you would like to maintain the same bus stop, you do not need to fill out the form below.
Please note that although OPT has indicated that buses will be provided to public and non-public students, there is a general understanding that there may be an insufficient number of buses available to support all riders.
OMNY Student Card:
Some students who are not eligible for bus service may be eligible for OMNY cards. Families may check their eligibility status on the OPT website. This year, OPT will issue OMNY cards to all eligible students.
OMNY Student Card Benefits:
OMNY Cards will allow for 4 trips per day.
Cards are good for use 7 days a week including the weekend.
Cards will work 24 hours a day.
Cards will be valid for 365 days.
All students are responsible for managing their OMNY card. Should a card be lost, every effort to replace it will be made but a replacement will not be available immediately.
If you misplaced the OMNY card during the summer, you will be reissued a new one in the fall.

Please fill out this form ONLY if:
You are an incoming family requesting a new or existing bus stop.
You are a returning family requesting to utilize a different bus stop than you did last year.
You are a returning family requesting a new, added bus stop.
Please note that a new bus stop cannot be guaranteed by OPT. This form is also used to update OPT on any address changes during the school year.
Bus routes are solely designated by OPT. A bus route must have at least 11 students, and those students may be from different schools. Bus route times are all approximate. Students should be at their bus stop at least five minutes prior to their scheduled pick-up time. Bus riders should always look for their route number on the side of the bus before getting on. If you encounter any unusual circumstances relating to the daily operations of the bus service, please contact Yesenia Aguilera.
If a bus is delayed or does not arrive, please visit School Bus Delays. This page will list helpful information such as the route, reason for delay, and estimated time the service will resume. If the bus route is not listed on the site, you can call (718) 392-8855 to speak with an agent.
For additional information, please visit the OPT website.
