Congratulations to the Class of 2022

On Friday, June 17, the Class of 2022 was ushered into a new relationship with The Cathedral School—that of alumni. The festivities began with a seated breakfast in the Dining, Common, and Morningside Rooms followed by the intimate tradition known as the Bookplate Ceremony. As Head of School Erica Corbin shared as the proceedings began, “A lot of love is about to be shared in this room, and I invite you to receive it.”

One by one, faculty members took to the podium to individually acknowledge a chosen graduate with a tribute. Following each tribute, that graduate came to the stage to receive the book For Every One, by Jason Reynolds with the tribute enclosed.

Following the Bookplate Ceremony, the soon-to-be graduates had some time to mingle and speak with their families and teachers and then suited up for Commencement Exercises in The Cathedral of St. John the Divine. In the world's largest Gothic Cathedral, our students received their diplomas, were entertained by the Choristers, heard remarks by Guest Speaker Dr. Simran Jeet Singh, and a Graduation Charge by Head of School Erica Corbin. “I charge you to believe in what is possible but does not yet exist. Believe in what is impossible today but maybe, just maybe, within reach tomorrow. Believe in the world that is yet to be born but is on her way,” she said. She then presented the graduated class of 2022 to a cheering audience. Congratulations Class of 2022!

Professional photographs, along with a video recording of the Bookplate Ceremony and Graduation, will be made available to families of the class by email.
