Grandparents and Special Visitors Day and Earth Day Evensong

On Friday, May 6, almost 300 grandparents and special visitors logged into a special Zoom event designed to provide a glimpse into the daily lives of Cathedral students.

The Grandparents and Special Visitors Day program began with an introduction by Head of of School, Erica Corbin. “Whether you are joining us today as a grandparent or as a special visitor, we welcome you today as family, and we are grateful for your presence.” Ms. Corbin then introduced two special videos:
Grandparents and Special Visitors were then invited to enter breakout rooms to view student presentations from the Lower School and Upper School. One by one, each grade level greeted our visitors with a pre-recorded video and then each classroom in the Lower School and each grade level in the Upper School presented an example of an interesting recent academic project or accomplishment.

Following this special Zoom event, Grandparents and Special Visitors were invited to join a live stream of our Earth Day Evensong. Spearheaded by student members of PEACOCK (People’s Environmental Action Club of Cathedral Kids), the Evensong Assembly offered addresses by PEACOCK Club Leader, Theo R. '23, and Club Advisor and 5th/6th Grade Science Teacher, Nick Frankfort, as well as a community pledge to steward the environment, special musical performances by Lower School grades, and the anthem, “For the Beauty of the Earth,” sung by the Cathedral Choristers.
