The Big Move and Return to Family Style Lunch

The Cathedral School enthusiastically returned to traditional family-style dining this week thanks to a herculean effort by our Food Services and Operations Team with the help of faculty, staff, and students. The Operations Team disassembled the Morningside Room, Dining Room, and Common Room—which served as temporary classrooms for the past two academic years—and returned all audiovisual equipment, desks, chairs, shelves, cabinets, and books to classrooms on the 2nd and 3rd floors. The “Big Move” (as faculty and staff called it) was coordinated over a day and a half last week. The rooms were then returned to their pre-pandemic glory with dining tables, chairs, salad bars, and miscellaneous dining equipment.

Delilah Lora, Associate Head of Upper School, wrote: “The Food Service and Operations Teams have gone above and beyond throughout this pandemic—serving as the backbone for our school. They gave up their traditional roles for almost two years in order to help keep our school safe and healthy. They moved items countless times throughout the campus—altering classroom spaces as needs evolved. They are here at the crack of dawn, and well into some weekends, getting things done behind the scenes. They are loved and respected by our students, and are equal partners in instilling the Core Values of this school. We are truly grateful for them and think our external community ought to know how much we value this amazing crew!” Thank you Food Service and Operations Teams for bringing the Cathedral family one step closer to old times.
