Commemoration of the Nelson Green and Reception

The Cathedral community gathered in person for the first time in over a year on Wednesday, March 26, to commemorate the Nelson Green and to attend a reception on the Pulpit Green celebrating Marsha Nelson’s illustrious 18-year tenure as Head of School. During the Commemoration proceedings, Ms. Nelson was praised for her service to The Cathedral School by Bill Bermont, President of the Board of Trustees, Dean Clifton Daniel III, Dean of the Cathedral of St. John the Divine, and Michelle Whittle, Cathedral’s longest-serving staff member. Upper School Psychologist, Dr. Mark Thomas, presented Ms. Nelson with a special book of tributes from the Cathedral community. She was surprised by a special message from her daughter, Emmy N-M. ‘21 and the gift of a basketball signed by the 8th Grade basketball team and coaches. She was also treated to a beautiful performance of Dona Nobis Pacem by the Cathedral Choristers. Ms. Nelson concluded the proceedings by sharing words of gratitude. Some candid photos from the reception are in the album to the right. Professional photos of both events will be available in next week’s Peacock Post.
