Doing the Work: Equity and Engagement at Cathedral has Launched

Doing the Work: Equity and Engagement at Cathedral launched yesterday, and we hope you are enjoying learning about Cathedral's program via the school's Facebook and Instagram pages—be sure to follow along.

Featuring interviews with Ms. Marsha Nelson, Dr. Worokya Duncan, Ms. Deja Williams, Ms. Ricca Gaus, Mr. Alan Donaldson, Mr. Kevin Nicholas, and Ms. Daphne Rubin-Vega ‘99, as well as special events for alumni, parents, and the entire Cathedral community, Doing the Work highlights the scope of our Equity and Engagement curriculum, from Kindergarten through 8th Grade and beyond.

We are particularly thrilled to spotlight the events listed below—a Conversation with The New York Times and The 1619 Project Contributor Nikita Stewart; and the Parent Equity Club Introductory Session.

We invite all members of our community to participate and engage more deeply in this vital work. Please do so by visiting our Doing the Work webpage and exploring our archive of Doing the Work video posts.

Questions? Please contact doingthework@cathedralnyc.org.
Katie Kingsbury, Cathedral Parent and Opinion Editor of The New York Times will introduce Ms. Stewart and her work. Dr. Worokya Duncan, Head of Upper School and Director of Equity and Engagement, will moderate Q&A after Ms. Stewart addresses the group.

Join us for this introductory session as we launch the school’s first Parent Equity Club. The club is akin to a monthly book club, but we plan to discuss all kinds of content related to equity. Our goal is to get to know each other, share our perspectives, and become a closer community that values equity and equality. Come to this first session to learn about the club and our first book selection, Caste by Isabel Wilkerson. - POSOC and PA
