Three Cathedral Students Perform at Symphony Space

Over the weekend, third graders Halle W., Cecilia J., and Joseph B. participated in the Album for the Young Student Composing Project and performed in the "Day of World Premieres" through Bloomingdale School of Music at Symphony Space. This program allows students to learn about music composition from teaching artists, and then compose a short piece. Halle W. sang a composition called "Springy Things”. Joseph B. performed his own piece on the cello called "Bike Ride", as well as a piece composed by Cecilia J. called "The Night in the Woods". Cecilia J. played a piano piece called "Night Dreams" composed by another student in the program. The experience gave each student an opportunity to express themselves through music and help them explore their creativity. It was also a great way to work together and exhibit team building as they composed pieces for each other to perform. Congratulations to Halle W., Joseph B., and Cecilia J. for outstanding performances!

Erratum to March 10, 2020 Peacock Post Feature Article
In our last Peacock Post issue, Esme S. '25 was mistakenly omitted among the third grade participants in the "Day of World Premieres" presented at Bloomingdale School of Music at Symphony Space. Esme composed “Darkness” for the concert. She showed great perseverance and collaboration in creating the piece for another student to play. Congratulations to Esme S. for her hard work and for sharing her talents!

Halle W. wrote "Springy Things", which was performed by a Bloomingdale School of Music faculty-led trio. Halle also sang “You Make Me Happy” by Sofia Ho. Cecilia J.'s picture was omitted and is now included here.
