6th Graders Working on Book Award Criteria

6th grade has been hard at work with Ms. Gaus and Ms. Collins on developing criteria for the Cathedral Book Award given to a picture book published in 2019. Adults have always chosen which children's picture books deserve awards, so this project encourages and empowers students to have an opinon about material that they relate to. The criteria requires the book to be inspiring to the reader, and the images must compliment the story. It has to teach the reader something they didn't know before. Most importantly, the book chosen must evoke one of Cathedral's Core Values. They are currently making trailers for the five finalist books which will be shown at upcoming Lower School Assemblies. 4th grade is also joining in the project by creating campaign posters for each book in Mr. Delacey's art class.
