Ben Ghatan '18 Speaks at NYSAIS Conference

Ben Ghatan '18, currently a sophomore at Riverdale, was part of a select group of New York State high school students invited to speak at the NYSAIS Head of Schools Conference at Mohonk Mountain House in New Paltz earlier this month. Ben spoke passionately about the need for diversity in school curriculum, including religious diversity, and the importance of preparing students for conversations with people who have different political opinions. He stressed that having a diverse student body and adult role models is key to preparing students to understand multiple viewpoints. Ms. Nelson attended the conference and is pictured with Ben. She was delighted to see him and commented that she often hears from our alumni and alumni parents who say that their Cathedral experience not only prepared them academically, but also enabled them to engage thoughtfully and critically in discussions of equity and inclusion. Ms. Nelson and Ben's Cathedral community are proud to witness him carrying this tradition forward in this way!
