NYSAIS Visiting Committee at Cathedral this Week

As part of Cathedral's 10-year accreditation process, the New York State Association of Independent Schools (NYSAIS) Visiting Committee has been on campus since Sunday, when the Committee was welcomed by Ms. Nelson, the Board of Trustees, and members of the administration, faculty, and staff with a reception and introduction to Cathedral. The Visiting Committee is comprised of independent school peers, experts in their fields, and chaired by a Head of School. In our case, the Visiting Committee is chaired by Ms. Kate Turley, former 18-year Principal (Head) of City and Country School.

The Committee will be on campus through Wednesday, and has been hard at work in both conference rooms and around the school. In preparation for the week, the Committee reviewed Cathedral's self-study, which was written and edited by members of the Cathedral community throughout the 2018-2019 school year. With this knowledge in-hand, the Committee has been enthusiastically observing classes and activities, as well as meeting with faculty, staff, Board members, students, and parents to better understand how we live out the mission and vision of the school. Ms. Kate Turley, Chair, will address the faculty and staff during tomorrow's all-employee meeting before the Committee leaves campus to complete their full report, which we will receive in the spring. We have enjoyed having the Committee on campus and look forward to reading their observations!
