Overview
The Cathedral School’s adjoining library and technology lab provide state of the art facilities for conducting research in print or digital media, developing student technology projects, engaging in quiet study, and sharing and enjoying quality literature. The librarian and Director of Technology work closely with teachers of all grade levels to develop curriculum and ensure that appropriate print and digital resources are available to support our comprehensive program, K-8.

Library
The school’s completely renovated library is a warm, welcoming space for students, parents, and faculty. The layout of the room is designed to encourage shared reading, effective research, and use of quality materials of all formats by students and adults of all ages. The library program is planned and implemented by a professional school librarian who introduces quality literature and teaches the information literacy skills of finding, selecting, and using information in all formats appropriately.

The library is available to students and teachers before and during school, as well as after school four days a week. Early morning book-sharing time provides Lower School families a chance to enjoy literature together or exchange books. The library is open after school for quiet work and study or book exchange to Upper School students independently, and Lower School students who are accompanied by an adult.

Technology
The Cathedral School’s technology program is committed to keeping technology equipment and training current and to providing students with the opportunities and necessary skills to utilize technology for learning, research, collaboration, and creative expression. Starting in the kindergarten, technology skills are integrated into the curriculum, and students utilize both the technology lab and computers in each classroom. The Director of Technology works closely with classroom teachers to develop projects that enhance curriculum, utilize appropriate software, and integrate progressively more sophisticated technology skills at each grade level. In addition to curricular projects, students achieve proficiency in keyboarding through guided practice beginning in the third grade.

The technology lab and library have 25 computers, in addition to 16 ibook laptops for use in the science labs and art studios, computers in every classroom, and wireless Internet access throughout the school. Extended hours and a game day on Friday mornings before school make technology accessible to all students and create a welcoming atmosphere in the technology lab.
