7th Grade Play: Hamlet

Every year the 7th grade puts together a performance for parents and the entire school to view. This year, wrote and produced a 30-minute interpretation of Shakespeare’s Hamlet in English class with Ms. Mshooshian. To prepare for the production, students read scenes from Hamlet in class everyday, getting the opportunity to act out different roles within the play. During their reading, students broke down Shakespeare’s English which differs from today’s English language. They also worked to understand the different puns and references that they come across.

Cathedral’s 30-minute version of Hamlet was slightly different from the original 30-Minute Shakespeare adaptation. The 7th grade worked hard to include more of the story in their version, and they also created their own version of the Ophelia death scene. Congratulations to all of them on such a fantastic show! A thank you is also in order for Mr. Delacey, Ms. McGetrick, and Ms. Rodriguez for all their help, and to Ms. Msooshian for putting together her first play at Cathedral.
