The Cathedral School’s After School Program is designed to provide afternoon activities to enhance students' academic, social, and cultural experiences. This extension of the academic day allows students to experience their school and teachers in a different context. An important goal of the program is to be accessible and affordable for all Cathedral School families.
Each semester we offer a variety of classes, which in many cases are taught by Cathedral School teachers or staff members. We also include outside programs that offer activities we might not otherwise be able to provide, as long as they work within the timeframe and philosophy of our program. Past examples of successful courses include: cooking, karate, musical theater, intramural sports, and ceramics.
After school courses run from 3:30-5:00 Monday through Friday. An additional “Extended Day” option is available for a nominal additional fee, enabling students to stay until 6:00 Monday through Friday. Students enrolled in the Extended Day program will receive homework assistance where applicable, or participate in supervised free time.
The After School Program catalog is distributed several weeks prior to the start of a new semester. The current catalog is available on this page. The fall term begins in September and ends in January. The spring session begins in January and runs through the end of the school year. Financial aid will be applied automatically by the business office toward ONE class where applicable.
Although not directly affiliated with The Cathedral School, “Adults and Children in Trust” (ACT) at The Cathedral of St. John the Divine provides after school child care for students until 6:00 every day.
